Newark Downtown District — District Management & Capital Projects

Square Foot, LLC was hired by the Newark Downtown District (NDD) in 1999 after the special improvement district was established. We provided outsourced district management and implementation for five years.
Early responsibilities included launching the district’s organizational systems, creating the initial budget, and coordinating special assessment billing and collection with the City of Newark. We also led the development of clean and safe programs, drafting RFPs and managing contracts on behalf of the NDD Board.
Square Foot initiated a broad range of marketing, retail, and capital initiatives—from dining guides and cultural maps to a façade improvement program that leveraged significant private investment, as well as streetscape design and construction projects.
